Dont know about the football but definitely go to the ruin bars, do the spa in the big park at the end of Andrassay and have dinner on a boat going up and down the danube. Its a beautiful city.

I hadn't heard of Champs but it sounds like I might be going in there next weekend, so I had a look on their website and saw a nice picture of Andy Carroll in there.

Ferencvaros and Honved were their old school football teams, I think Honved was an army side?

Of course Hungary have a great water polo side which was shown in the "Blood in the Water" match in the '56 Olympics against the USSR, obviously in reference to the Hungarian Revolution:

Some record that Koscis had. Puskas scored some goals too! Hi did not play for Real Madrid until he was 31 but still ended up with their Golden boot 4 times. I wonder why they are so rubbish now.

Re: Budapest
Football isn't that popular?

What with legends like the Mighty Magyars with the likes of Puskas, Hidegkuti and Sandor Kocsis to fall back on?

Re: Budapest
Champs is pretty decent. It can get booked up though as they get a lot of stags in there. Football also isnt that popular out there, so not many bars show games

Beautiful city with loads of war history, Turks, Romans, Huns, Nazis and Magyars. Have a good root around, its fantastic. Be extra careful crossing the roads, the drivers are all nutters.
